Mommy and Me Yoga [5 Amazing Benefits for Mom & Baby!]

There are three things that are really hard to balance as a mom; one on one bonding time with your little one, exercising in a way that provides self-care and hanging out with other mamas in the same phase of life. Well, there is one way to get all of these things done at once. Head to mommy and me yoga! Trust me, you do not have to be a yogi to attend one of these classes. They are seriously fun and even better, so beneficial for both you and your baby.

What to Expect at Mommy and Me Yoga

Don’t be intimidated! Mommy and Me Yoga is going to be different than any other yoga class you have been to. And of course, your baby does not have to be perfectly behaved to fit in. No one will judge you for feeding or changing your baby in the middle of class, either. These classes usually focus mostly on stretching and are themed with fun, upbeat music. A little baby will spend the yoga session in your arms, but usually, once they can walk or crawl you will put them down next to you. As far as a time frame, you can expect to be there anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes just like most normal yoga classes.

Safety Precautions

The yoga instructors that run mommy and me classes are trained professionals (as long as you find a reputable studio). They know what is safe for you and your baby and exactly how to make the experience beneficial for you both. However, start gently and don’t feel like you need to push yourself too hard. It is not recommended to start until your baby can hold their head up without help, but every studio has different guidelines. You may also want to run the idea past your doctor.

Finding a Mommy and Me Yoga Class

These classes are pretty common these days, and finding a studio may be as easy as googling “Mommy and Me Yoga near me”. The YMCA often offers Mommy and Me options, so you can also start by checking there!

At one of these classes, you will find the poses are geared specifically to heal mamas. You will gain core strength as well as work your pelvic floor muscles. Help Your Baby Develop Motor and Sensory Skills

Heading to Mommy and Me Yoga with your baby isn’t just beneficial for you. They will actually get a lot out of it, too. Leave with a Happier Baby (who sleeps & eats better!)

Baby yoga can help with digestion and getting your little one down to sleep. When you practice any knees to chest pose, you are helping to relieve any constipation or gas. As for easier sleep, there is no real proof but getting your baby out and about on top of moving around usually helps.

Speed Up Your Morning Routine with Kids with These 13 Phrases!

Do you know what I dislike the most about being a parent? Getting everyone out the door in the morning. There are so many things to think about breakfast, teeth brushing, lunches, getting everything in backpacks, and sometimes even triple-checking that your 12-year-old did in fact put clean underwear on today. Of course, we want our kids to be clean and have everything they need before we send them out the door, but I also want to instill responsibility and a strong sense of self-care in my kiddos. I’ve started repeating these 13 key phrases to my kids that speed up our morning routine and help them get out the door. After all, I think we could all use a little extra encouragement in the morning.

13 phrases to speed up your morning routine with kids

Speed up your morning routine with kids with these 13 phrases!

  1. “Give every day the chance to be the most beautiful day of your life.” Mark Twain
  2. “Your day is pretty much formed by how you spend your first hour. Check your thoughts, attitude, and heart.”
  3. “One kind word can change someone’s entire day.”
  4. “Lose an hour in the morning and you will spend all day looking for it.”
  5. “It’s a good day to have a good day!”
  6. “Wake up with purpose.”
  7. “Lovely days don’t just come to you, you should walk to them.”
  8. “Start every day with an attitude of gratitude!”
  9. “Set a goal that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning.” (we say this in the morning, but it is also a great one to remind your kiddos of before bed)
  10. “Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.” Buddha
  11. “Be the best version of yourself.”
  12. “Good vibes only.” (super simple, but it’s my way of squashing any bickering or negativity which slow everything down)
  13. “Anything’s possible if you’ve got enough nerve.” J.K. Rowling

How We Established a Morning Routine

Above, I mentioned that mornings are one of my least favorite things about parenting. However, recently I decided we all needed to get out the door on a better foot. Of course, the 13 phrases above definitely helped to speed up the morning routine but I started implementing some real rules for the kids as well. Below you will find some of the things we do around here to have a better morning.

Stricter Bedtimes

Huh, who would have thought getting more sleep would make for easy mornings? I know so many of you are probably thinking DUH. Here’s the thing though, we did have set bedtimes before. They just varied a little bit and flexed depending on what our day looked like. We have made it a goal to be way more consistent with bedtime and implemented a nighttime routine as well to help with this.

13 phrases to speed up your morning routine with kids

This new strict bedtime applies to mom & dad as well. Rather than staying up late, try to wake up a little earlier. You might need some of the 13 phrases above to help speed up your own morning routine at first, but eventually, it will become habit. I found that I am not very productive when I stay up too long after the kids go to bed anyways. I just watch TV or scroll through my phone. However, when I wake up early I can actually get some things done, like throwing in the laundry or cleaning up. Also, you can make your coffee and maybe even grab a bite to eat before the kids are awake. It will make your own morning feel so much less chaotic.

Making Breakfast

I had to let go of the idea of being this perfect mom who got up every morning and made breakfast for the kids. To be honest, it wasn’t really working out how I pictured it anyways and was adding a lot of stress. Now I am pre-making breakfasts like egg bites and letting the kids have a lot more freedom in what they grab to eat in the morning. I will even occasionally stock up on things like Pop-Tart Bites, which is one way to put a smile on all the kiddos’ faces!

I printed out a sheet with options for what they can make themselves, things like avocado toast or microwavable breakfast burritos. For the older kiddos, I listed out what they need to make certain smoothies or acai bowls and they have done great with making them for themselves!

Packing Lunches

Do it the night before! Stop scrolling through Instagram and give yourself 30 minutes to put lunches together. You will thank yourself in the morning. Here’s an article that might just make you feel a little better about the lunches you pack!

If you have elementary-aged kiddos, have them help you as well. It is good to teach them what goes into making their lunch and you can help them learn healthy habits along the way.

Picking an Outfit

Who knew a 5-year-old could be so picky about their outfit? Whether you choose the clothes or your little one picks out their own outfit, coming to an agreement of what they will wear the night before works out so nicely. Then, you can have it all laid out and ready for them to grab and put on in the morning without questions.

Checklists

Parenting has taught me that checklists are a necessity. Turns out having checklists for the morning routine completely changed how we operate. Best of all, I don’t feel like I am repeating myself every single day anymore because I can just tell them to read the checklist. I’ve printed these out and put them in the bathroom and by the door as reminders.

Morning Routine Checklist Example

  • Brush Teeth
  • Wash Face
  • Do Your Hair
  • Get Dressed in the Clothes Laid Out for You
  • Eat Breakfast (You Can Make Yourself Anything from the Breakfast List)
  • Get School Supplies Ready To Go
  • Put Your Lunch in Your Backpack
  • Put on Shoes

Invest in Some Cubbies

These don’t have to be something that stays in your home forever, but while you have young children it is really nice to have a go-to spot for all things school-related. Even if you don’t want to do cubbies, have a designated spot for each child. They can keep their shoes, backpack, lunchbox, and anything else they need for school each day in one spot.

These cubbies are a great spot to post some of the 13 phrases that you have picked out to speed up your morning routine! I love these cubbies from Kohl’s because they are simple but have all the space your kiddo needs.

Weekend Morning Routines

Obviously, you should all relax on the weekends but try to keep a similar morning routine. This will help prevent Monday morning from feeling so hard and eliminate having to readjust every week. You can move wake up times back and switch things up to make a nice breakfast, but make sure everyone still completes everything on the usual checklist.

With these 13 phrases to speed up your morning routine and some tips for yours truly, I hope you are able to find your perfect morning routine for your kids and leave the house a little happier. Every mama deserves to have a calm, smoothly run morning.

If you have any tips or tricks that help your family in the morning, please share them in the comments! We would love to hear from you.

Keto and Breastfeeding – Is This a No-No?

The ketogenic diet, more commonly referred to as the Keto diet, is currently a popular weight loss technique. Many women desire to get their pre-baby body back after giving birth. However, they would also like to continue nursing. Begging the question, is going on the Keto diet while breastfeeding safe?

keto and breastfeeding

What is the Keto Diet

The Keto diet is similar to the once highly popular Atkin’s diet of the past. It is based on a low-carb, high-fat intake and promises to put your body in a ketogenic state when strictly adhered to. We are here to talk about the compatibility of the keto diet alongside breastfeeding, but first, you must understand the diet itself.

What is a ketogenic state? Also known as ketosis, it is when your body uses fat stores for energy rather than glucose, the result is ketones in the blood. Ketosis is a naturally occuring metabolic process, though in today’s day and age it is not one that our body frequently relies on.

When your body does not have enough insulin or blood glucose, it begins to break down stored fat for energy. A buildup of ketones, or acid, results. The Keto diet works to try and force your body into ketosis, so instead of using glucose from carbohydrates, you have ingested your body must break down stored fat.

Oddly enough, ketosis is most commonly seen transpiring in diabetic patients who are not using it as a dietary exercise. When too many acidic ketones build up in the blood your body can enter ketoacidosis, which can be lethal.

The glucose, or sugar, your body typically breaks down for energy comes from starchy foods (carbohydrates) such as pasta and bread and sugars found in fruits and yogurts. These glucose molecules either provide your body with energy or are stored for later use.

When you cut out the foods that naturally contain glucose, your body has to look for an alternative energy source. Your body will then turn to break down stored fat, and this is the foundation of the Keto diet.

The Keto diet tries to limit carb and sugar intake to around 5%, with 75 % of your diet composed of fats and the remaining 20% composed of proteins. By starving your body of glucose you are trying to coerce it into ketosis.

The Keto diet has been known to contribute to short term weight loss, but ketosis is notoriously hard to maintain. Many of the foods you can eat on the Keto diet are filling, so you won’t feel as if you are depriving yourself. However, your food choices are still limited.

Meat, fatty fish, cheese, butter, cream, and eggs are predominant foods advised in the Keto diet and good things to eat while breastfeeding. In addition, those on the diet can consume nuts and seeds, avocados, healthy oils, low carb veggies, and some condiments.

Commonly Recommended Foods:

  • Meat: ham, steak, chicken, bacon
  • Fatty fish: Tuna and Salmon
  • Cheese: Unprocessed cheddar, mozzarella or goat
  • Butter and cream
  • Eggs: Omega-3 eggs
  • Nuts and seeds: Chia, walnuts, almonds, flax
  • Avocados
  • Healthy oils: Avocado oil, EVOO, or coconut oil
  • Low-carb veggies: Green veggies in addition to onions, pickles, and tomatoes
  • Condiments: salt and pepper

Foods to avoid include mainly carbs or foods with high sugar content. This includes natural sugars such as those found in fruits. Carbs and sugars are often found in starchy foods or processed foods as well.

Commonly Not Recommended Foods:

  • Beans: kidney beans, lentils, chickpeas
  • Alcohol
  • Sugary foods: candy, soda pop, ice cream, sweets
  • Grains & Starches: bread, pasta, cereal
  • Fruit: all fruit, though some allow small amounts of berries
  • Root Veggies: tubers, potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes
  • Unhealthy Fats: mayonnaise and vegetable oils

The list of allowable foods is quite generous for the Keto diet. This means you should not have trouble creating meals, snacks, or finding options at restaurants. However, many people find that the initial switch to a low-carb/high-fat diet can be a shock to their system.

Additionally, it may be hard to maintain this style of eating for long periods. Maintaining ketosis does not allow for occasional “cheat days” like many other diets. Some side effects of the Keto diet include “Keto flu”, fatigue, muscle loss, bad breath, smelly urine, and digestion issues.

The Toll Breastfeeding Takes on Your Body

When you are breastfeeding your body is producing food for another human being. It is understandable then that your body burns more energy and requires calories.

When breastfeeding, you need approximately 200-500 additional calories each day. This is based on a 2000 calorie diet and will vary based on your weight, height, and activity level.

This caloric increase is especially true in the early stages of breastfeeding when as your baby’s only nutrient source you are likely nursing eight to twelve times a day. As your baby grows and is able to eat more solid foods you will nurse less and will likely need to consume less extra calories.

If you are eating a healthy and well-balanced diet, the addition of extra calories should not cause you to gain weight as they will be burned off by making breastmilk and breastfeeding. It is quite common for women to find that breastfeeding actually helps them shed the pounds despite consuming a few extra calories.

If you do try to cut calories to lose weight, it could affect your milk supply. During this time, nourishing your baby is the most important thing. If your body senses that it is fighting for energy due to a lack of calories from food it will try to preserve itself. In most cases, this means cutting back on breastmilk production.

Are the Keto Diet and Breastfeeding Compatible?

keto and breastfeeding

It is understood that it is not beneficial to go on an extreme diet or try to cut calories while breastfeeding. But the Keto diet emphasizes a large intake of high-fat foods even if it does exclude carbs. Therefore, it may seem like breastfeeding and the Keto diet may be compatible.

Furthermore, there does not seem to be any evidence that low-carb diets affect milk supply or quality. However, most lactation consultants and pediatricians would not recommend anything other than a balanced and well-rounded diet during breastfeeding.

The high-fat foods recommended by Keto are quite filling and may cause you to eat less throughout the day and not obtain your caloric intake goal, leading to a decrease in milk supply. Another factor affecting production is hydration. Ketosis can be dehydrating for the body due to the release of ketones in the blood and their expulsion through urine.

Overall, the Keto diet does have some health risks not directly associated with breastfeeding. If not followed closely and advised by a nutritionist or physician the Keto diet may increase your risk of heart disease and diabetes.

Eating copious amounts of high-fat foods may raise cholesterol levels. One study cited low-carb diets as a link to higher risks of dying from cardiovascular conditions, cancer, and all other causes. Not to mention the initial unpleasant side effects and havoc the Keto diet can have on your system for three to four weeks.

What’s the Verdict on Keto and Breastfeeding?

It remains to be seen if dieting and breastfeeding are compatible. Making drastic changes to your diet while breastfeeding may not be the best idea, especially if there is a chance it could affect your milk supply for your precious little one. If you are considering trying to lose weight while breastfeeding it is best to consult a physician.

Please keep in mind that your body did an incredible thing; grew a beautiful tiny human! Now it is doing another incredible thing and providing all the nourishment that tiny human needs. So, I totally get wanting to “get back to normal” but you should also know that you are more than good enough just the way you are.

How to Clean Baby Toys + Safe Cleaning Products!

Babies put toys up by their faces, in their mouth, and up their noses, so it is super important to keep them clean! I would recommend having a routine to clean them because otherwise, it is super easy to forget. I would recommend cleaning the toys every couple of weeks, but also anytime your little one has had a playdate where the other baby might have been sticking toys in their mouth. You will also want to disinfect anytime that any family or friends that you spend time with regularly are sick.

how to clean baby toys

How to Clean Baby Toys

The Little Stuff

Dishwasher

Take the easy route if you can! For little toys that have no batteries, I would recommend just putting them in the dishwasher. You can just add a couple of drops of dish soap and run a quick cycle with hot water.

By Hand

Rinse your baby’s toys with soapy water in your sink until the water runs clear to clean them. Fill a 1-gallon bucket with water (you can find these at hardware stores super cheap and they will come in handy for cleaning many things with this same method!) and 2 tablespoons of bleach. Let the toys sit in the bleach solution for a couple of minutes and then set them out to air dry. This second step will do the disinfecting!

Cleaning Bigger Toys

Your baby is probably not putting bigger toys, like a walker or a play piano, in their mouth quite as often. However, it is still super important to clean toys like this off. You can rinse use the bucket method above for toys without batteries, but you will need a different method for everything else. My recommendation for toys with batteries is to use one of the disinfecting wipes we have listed below to simply wipe the toys down.

Plush and Fabric Toys

You will definitely need to know how to clean plush and fabric toys, especially if your baby becomes attached to Mr. Bunny or Teddy and cannot sleep without him.  Luckily, you can just throw these toys in the wash with a little soap and hot water. They come out looking as good as new (at least for the first year or so)! If the toy is getting worn down or seems fragile, I would stick to hang drying. As for newer toys, they can be tossed right into the dryer. It also helps to throw some tennis balls in along with the plush toys to keep the inner stuffing fluffed up all around.

Safe Cleaners to Use on Your Toys

Obviously, you want everything in your home to be clean and disinfected, but when there’s a baby around you also want to use safe nontoxic products. Here are some of our favorite soaps, wipes, and detergents to aid you in cleaning your baby’s toys.

how to clean baby toys

Honest Dish Soap:

This plant-derived clean is tough on food and grease, as well as any grime that might end up on toys. It comes in 3 different scents, all naturally derived, or a scent-free option.

Babyganics Foaming Dish & Bottle Soap:

Another popular brand that makes safe products for babies is Babyganics. This foaming dish soap can be used to clean your bottles as well as dishes and toys. It is plant-based, free of toxins, and has been tested by both pediatricians and dermatologists.

Elysium Premium Natural Baby Bottle Liquid Dish Soap:

Elysium is another soap that can be used to clean your baby’s toys. It is antibacterial and organic, as well as being completely free of parabens, alcohol, phthalates, and sulfates just like the other soaps on this list. This soap is also vegan if we have any mamas out there who are looking for that!

Clorox Free and Clear Hard Surface Daily Wipes:

You need all kinds of wipes with little ones in the house! These Clorox Free and Clear are perfect for wiping down both big and small toys. You can also use them on your counters, high chair, car seats, and more. They do not have any bleach and are fragrance-free.

Dreft Multi-Surface All-Purpose Gentle Cleaning Wipes:

  • Avoid Laces- At some point, your belly is going to get so big that you won’t be able to see your feet. This obviously complicates tying your shoes. That being said it is best to just avoid laces altogether. Who needs them anyways?

  • Say No to Buckles or Straps- Just like with laces, buckles and straps are just going to be really difficult with a big belly in the way!

  • Support Matters- When your feet are swollen you don’t want to put shoes on period. This makes it tempting to get the flimsiest type of shoe, however, you will definitely want to consider support. Having a supportive shoe will be especially important if you will be on your feet a lot. Even with the most supportive of shoe, you still reserve the right to demand foot rubs.

  • The Stretchier the Better- Your feet will probably be fluctuating in size quite a bit, so the stretchier the better. This will make it way easier to get your foot in and out.

  • There are Cute Options!- When reading everything above, it is easy to get discouraged and think that there won’t be any cute shoes to wear while pregnant. Wrong! There are tons of cute options that feature everything above.

The 15 Best Shoes for Swollen Feet While Pregnant

1. TOMS Classic Slip Ons

shoes for swollen feet

I know TOMS were a big thing years ago, but I am down to bring them back! There are tons of cute color options, my personal favorite being the gray and tweed above. Plus, they are super easy to get on and off and are stretchy enough to form to your swollen feet.

2. Teva Women’s Arrowood Swift Slip-On (#1 Tennis Shoe for Swollen Feet)

shoes for swollen feet

You guys, I am OBSESSED with these tennis shoes. How pretty is this olive color? Not to mention, they are made of breathable mesh keeping your feet cool. This mesh also provides great stretch, so you can still get your swollen feet in these shoes when you’re pregnant. The sole is super light and offers enough support. This is a great tennis shoe option if you are looking for something with no pesky laces to tie.

3. Birkenstock- Arizona Suede

shoes for swollen feet

If there is any time in life that you have the excuse to where stocks & socks, it is definitely when you are pregnant. You have to take advantage of this because Birkenstocks are so comfortable! I will warn you, though, that you will want to break these in before your feet start to swell. Once they have formed to your feet, you won’t want to wear anything else. They are perfect for swollen feet since you can widen the strap before you put them on.

4. Old Navy Flip-Flops

Keeping things simple, you can’t go wrong with Old Navy flip flops. They are comfortable and easy to slide on and off. On top of that, they come in just about every color you can think of and are definitely budget-friendly. This is basically as close as you are going to get to wearing no shoes. Bonus; these will also be great to wear around the hospital when your baby makes their debut!

5. Adidas Slides

I would like to send a huge thank you to whoever made Adidas slides trendy. These shoes are completely acceptable to wear in public whether you have swollen pregnancy feet or not. They are perfect for every occasion from the grocery store to a doctor’s appointment. These are another great option to pack in your hospital bag, as well (along with some fuzzy socks, of course). They come in a huge variety of colors from the traditional black and white to the pretty mint above.

6. UGG Women’s Slipper (The Comfiest Shoes to Get You Through Swollen Pregnancy Feet)

shoes for swollen feet

These slippers are life-changing. They are extremely soft and comfortable, so you will probably want to wear them around the house all day long. Plus, they do have a rubber bottom if you need to run outside in them. If you will be pregnant through the winter, these are definitely a must-have.

7. Target Slip-On Flexible Bottom Shoe

I am loving this camo print slip-on shoe. The slip-resistant rubber sole is super flexible, which makes them easy to get on even with swollen feet. I think these would look super cute with a pair of leggings and a long tee. You can find our favorite maternity leggings here!

8. Sketchers Go Walk Joy

They might not be the cutest option on this list, but there is a reason these have long been a favorite among pregnant mamas. These shoes are made of super stretchy material so you won’t ever have a problem getting them onto your swollen feet. They are lightweight and cushiony inside making them a great option if you will be in your feet for an extended time.

9. New Balance Fuel Core

shoes for swollen feet

Yes, these don’t follow all my rules. However, you can easily tuck the laces in making them a slip-on shoe. These New Balances are a great choice if you refuse to buy a shoe that you will only wear while pregnant. They are super trendy, so you will be able to wear them into motherhood.

10. Crocs Women’s Busy Day Stretch Asymmetrical Wedge

shoes for swollen feet

If you are a working pregnant mama, these Crocs will keep you comfortable and looking professional. The footbed will have you feeling like you are walking on clouds. They will get the job done whether you are required to stand or walk around for any length of time. To give you an idea of their stretchiness, the top of the shoe is kind of like yoga pants material.

11. Amazon Essentials Ballet Flat (#1 Shoe for the Working Mama)

This is another option for working pregnant moms. These are an Amazon Essential meaning they are super affordable. They also come in a couple of different colors, so you can perfectly match them to your wardrobe. So many flats get really narrow up by your toes, but these have a rounded toe to give your feet plenty of room. Any extra room in a shoe is a godsend when your pregnant and your feet are swollen.

12. Converse Shoreline Low Top

shoes for swollen feet

If you are a converse girl who is dreading giving them up during pregnancy, these are a great compromise. The back is stretchy so they will easily adjust to a changing foot. Plus, no laces to tie! If you loosen the laces, you can pull the tongue out really far making it a breeze to slip in your swollen foot.

13. Naturalizer Yola Slip-On Sneaker

Trendy and comfortable, these slip-on sneakers make for the perfect pregnancy shoe. The high platform makes them a bit fancier than the usual slip-on. It is a great shoe to wear out (even though you should know that no matter what the occasion, pregnancy is a pass to dress comfy). The footbed has tons of cushion, too! They also come in a tan and a pretty charcoal color.

14. Women’s Neida Eva Two Band Slide Sandals

If you love the Birkenstocks but not their price tag, Target has come to the rescue with these two band slide sandals. Just like with the Birkenstocks, you can adjust the straps prior to putting them on if your feet are swollen. This pair also happens to be plastic making them good waterproof shoes for summer months.

15. Chaco Classic Athletic Sandal (The Best Shoes for Hiking with Swollen Feet)

If you aren’t letting pregnancy put a pause on your outdoorsy ways, you have to look into getting yourself a pair of Chaco Classic Sandals. They do have a buckle, which isn’t ideal, but as long as you have a hiking buddy they can help you out. This is a great shoe for swollen feet because they are made to custom-fit your foot with easily adjustable straps.

Don’t worry, you will have your normal feet back someday that fit into those cute booties sitting in your closet. Until then, at least there are lots of ways to cope and plenty of cute shoes to choose from. In the meantime, drink lots of water and keep your feet elevated when possible!

The Best Prenatal Cradles [For Support Mamas Need!]

When a pregnancy reaches the end of the second trimester the baby is growing and so is your belly! This additional weight can be very difficult for a pregnant woman to carry and can affect how her body carries the weight. A prenatal cradle helps to distribute this weight evenly to reduce hip and back pain as well as increase circulation. Whether your doctor has recommended you look into one or your just looking for comfort, here are the top 10 best prenatal cradles!

best prenatal cradle

What is a prenatal cradle?

A prenatal cradle is a supportive medical garment that a doctor may suggest to help support the weight of a pregnant belly. These garments lift the weight of the growing baby from the pelvis to help reduce the weight a pregnant woman’s hips carry throughout the pregnancy. Prenatal cradles also help with lower limb circulation, as the lifting of the belly helps to increase proper blood flow.

A prenatal cradle uses medical-grade materials and velcro straps to support beneath a pregnant belly. It also uses a harness style support to lift the weight from the hips for the rest of the body to support. Keep in mind many people refer to these as a maternity belt.

Prenatal Cradle Must-Haves

When shopping for a prenatal cradle you may want to keep the following in mind to ensure you purchase a garment that will offer the best support while being comfortable and effective.

  • Comfortable: a prenatal cradle is only useful if you wear it, which means it has to be comfortable.
  • Easy to use: as a pregnant woman with a growing belly you’ll want this garment to be easy to put on, easy to adjust, and easy to get off after a long day.
  • Adjustable: as your body changes you’ll want to make sure you can adjust your support to suit your needs.
  • Durable: as the pregnancy progresses and the baby grows you’ll rely on the prenatal cradle more to help support the weight and you’ll want a cradle that can provide proper support throughout your pregnancy.

This product is number one because it’s often considered the “official” prenatal cradle. This garment uses a series of straps to not only support the belly but also lift with side straps. There are support straps that go around the neck to help the garment fit snuggly and to avoid things slipping or sliding down during use. The design helps with posture, support, and comfort. This is a great garment for those that are looking for the most support and don’t mind wearing a full-body piece throughout the day.

2: NEOtech Care Maternity Belt and Pregnancy Support

This prenatal cradle is a very supportive garment. There are two main supports, a wide and breathable back portion for proper back support and belly support. The first portion is the strap that sits below or around the belly, this adjusts on both sides of the belly to allow a good fit. The second strap sits above the belly, helping to keep the garment in position and to maintain a proper fit throughout the day. The higher back support helps keep everything together and gives you proper support in posture as well as around the baby.

3: Leward Maternity Belt Pregnancy Support Belly Brace

The Leward Maternity Belt has a similar design to the previous belts. The back portion is breathable with a mesh design and adjusts on the side for a snug fit. The belly support portion is narrower than the back for comfort and targeted support, while the over the belly strap adjusts on the side as well. 5: Maternity Belt 2.0 Belly Band

Using a maternity belt can offer back support as well as a belly lift, and this prenatal cradle was designed to be breathable, flexible, and adjustable. The design of this belt has a wide back portion for optimal support with a narrower front to sit under the belly for enough lift without added bulk.

Another great option is this flexible and adjustable maternity belt. The materials in this prenatal cradle are very breathable while offering stretch and a secure fit. This prenatal cradle is unique because it is one size fits all. You won’t have to worry about needing a different size later in your pregnancy! This is a great choice for reducing pain and finding support with a simple design and easy to wear garment.

7: AZMED Maternity Belt and Back Support

This prenatal cradle works to support the belly, back, and hips with compression support which is a little different compared to other maternity belts and prenatal cradles. This gives you a tight fit that both lifts and supports but also provides compression to keep it in place and add support. The belt is wide on both sides to support your lower back and well as the growing belly. The compression can also help reduce pains associated with the added weight, such as lower back pain, pelvic pain, and belly pain.

8: AIZGGE Maternity Belt

Some maternity belts can be used both during pregnancy and after giving birth. Some women find that using their supportive prenatal cradle after they give birth helps keep things feeling supported and comfortable while their body adjusts. This maternity belt option for during and post pregnancy.

9: It’s You Babe Mini Cradle

The same brand that provides the full prenatal cradle also offers what’s called a mini cradle, or a simple maternity belt. This mini cradle offers a simple design with underbelly support. There’s a set of hook and eye closures to provide a secure fit while laying flat and flush around the belly. This is a good prenatal cradle option for those looking for something simple, straightforward, and supportive. The single band makes it easy to get on and off, and the closures give you some ability to adjust as your belly grows.

10: Nu Momz Belly Band

This prenatal cradle sits right across your belly and back without needing and undershirt or protective layer. This belly band provides a secure and comfortable fit right against the skin. The wide design uses breathable fabric and the belly band has a unique shape to contour to any growing belly.
